What to Do If Your Heated Vest Stops Working

Heated vests are designed to keep you warm, comfortable, and worry-free. But like any piece of tech, things don’t always go according to plan. If your heated vest stops working, don’t panic—many common issues can be resolved quickly without calling customer service or replacing your vest.

1. Check the Power Connection

Start with the basics. Make sure the battery is fully charged and securely connected to the vest’s power cable. A loose connection is one of the most common reasons your vest might not turn on.

2. Inspect the Battery

Try charging your battery with a known working cable and outlet. If the battery doesn’t hold a charge or feels unusually warm while charging, it may need replacing. Avoid using third-party batteries not designed for your specific vest model.

3. Test the Power Button

Press and hold the power button for 3–5 seconds—many heated vests require a long press to activate. If no lights appear, try again after confirming the battery is fully charged and properly connected.

4. Examine the Heating Zones

Put the vest on and give it a few minutes. Heated zones (usually on the back and chest) may take 30–60 seconds to start warming. If only part of the vest heats up, you could be dealing with a wiring issue or an uneven power supply.

5. Try Another Battery (If You Have One)

If you have a backup battery that’s compatible, try swapping it in. This helps rule out whether the issue is with the vest or the battery itself.

6. Look for Visible Damage

Inspect the inside and outside of the vest for signs of wear, cuts, or damage—especially around the power port and heating panels. If the vest was recently washed, double-check that the battery was removed beforehand. Water exposure can cause electrical issues.

7. Reset the System

Some heated vests have a reset process. Try disconnecting the battery for 60 seconds, reconnecting it, and powering the vest on again. This can help clear any internal error states.

8. Check for Indicator Lights

Most heated vests include LED indicators to show power and heat levels. If these lights aren’t responding, it's a sign that power isn’t reaching the heating system. If they blink in a specific pattern, consult your vest’s manual—some patterns indicate error codes.

9. Still Not Working? Consider These Next Steps

If you’ve checked everything above and your heated vest still isn’t working, it might be time to evaluate whether it’s a product issue—or something else like battery age or external damage.

For vests still under warranty, many trusted brands (like GOKOZY) typically provide support options. Before contacting customer service, it helps to prepare:

  • Your original order number or receipt
  • Photos or videos that show the issue clearly
  • Notes about how the vest was used, charged, and stored

This saves time and allows the support team to offer a faster solution.
